A Dimash Qudaibergen Fable: The Sculptor’s Masterpiece

My recent 2022 publication, A Dimash Qudaibergen Fable; The Sculptor’s Masterpiece, is a four-part, one-hundred-ninety stanza poem about a sculptor from Anytown USA, who has a very vivid dream of a tall, handsome, and impeccably dressed man standing on a wooden platform in his studio. It was SO REAL that he leaps from his bed, quickly gets dressed to greet him. He’s not there, however, because as a voice in his head declares to him… twice, “He’s not here because you haven’t sculpted him yet”. He proceeds to sculpt him using molds he purchased quite mysteriously in fact, three years earlier and had never used, and then his and Dimash’s adventure begins. However, three weeks after the publication date of the Fable Book, I realized that if I could call that book a puzzle then some of the pieces were missing. So I decided to adapt a screenplay from the book. It gave new life and dimension to the Sculptor and Dimash. It is now in the back of the Second Edition of the I Am Music book.

EXCERPT ONE

The following is a fable
Of how he came to be
For when he was created
He was different than you and me.

For to create means “to organize”
You begin with thoughts and ideas
and then you add materials
and see what the end result is.

The Sculptor in this creation story
Dreamed a vision late one eve
And quickly tumbled out of bed
To roll up his Sculptor’s sleeve.

EXCERPT TWO

Dreams can be vivid, as we all know
They can seem as they really took place
Then our hearts and minds let go of the dream
But for you this is not the case.

I’m so sorry that this is perplexing you
And it’s become this obsessive thing
That you created a tall man of clay
That is destined to compose and to sing.

Please let’s pretend that this never occurred
And get on with our lives as before
You have real sculptures to shape and create
And you have clients that you just can’t ignore.

Yes, yes honey. I know you are right
I have to let go of this thing
It’s ridiculous and utterly insane to think
That I made a sculpture that will sing.

I Am Music MY JOURNEY WITH DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN THE BEST SINGER IN THE WORLD (SECOND EDITION)

My first Dimash book was published in April 2021. It is a compilation of 21 poems, three skits and many other musings about the singer. Most of them are humorous, because that’s how I usually roll, but some are what I call “thoughtful expressions” with a more serious note. Many of them were posted on some of my favorite Dimash fan pages I follow. It’s a fan book called; I AM MUSIC  MY JOURNEY WITH DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN THE BEST SINGER IN THE WORLD (SECOND EDITION). The inspirations for the writings came to me over a 10-month period from May 2020 to March 2021. I’ve written many poems since then but they are comfy for now in my Dimash folder. The Second Edition contains a screenplay adapted from the Fable Book. Technically a first draft, the screenplay was ready to be added to the republication of the I Am Music book.

The First Edition of I Am Music – My Journey with Dimash Kudaibergen – The Best Singer in the World was presented at The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books in 2022; and The Manila International Book Fair 2022

THE PRINCESS OF CYRES HILL

In January 2001, I was inspired to write a poem about a young princess whose family ruled over the Newton St. Cyres area in the Devon county of England. She is purely fictional and it was my first granddaughter’s newly acquired British accent and a postcard from England that inspired the poem.

EXCERPT

SHE FROLICKED IN THE GARDENS
SHE DANCED IN THE RAINS
SHE RODE HER HORSE THROUGH ENGLISH WOODS
AND SKIPPED DOWN COUNTRY LANES
SHE FOUND FOUR-LEAF CLOVERS
ON WARM AND WINDY DAYS
SHE BATHED IN DEVON PONDS
AND SLEPT ON BRISTOL HAYS
HER BEAUTY AND HER MAJESTY
WERE TALKED OF LANDS ABROAD
SHE WAS THE FINEST MAID TO WALK
ON ANY ENGLISH SOD

ABOUT DIMASH

My Journey with Dimash Qudaibergen began in February 2019 and I’m still on the Dimash train. Obviously! This website wouldn’t exist without his musical influence on my life. The I Am Music book has a fifteen-page introduction where I TRY to explain Dimash in earthly words. Sometimes they fail but that’s okay. He insists he’s a “regular guy” and yes, we really know that, but his voice and that man’s humility in the sometimes-cynical entertainment world, prove otherwise. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, however old or young you may be, if you sing beautifully, with power and confidence and conviction and accomplish that by singing with pitch-perfect perfection every note on a piano (and some off-the-piano notes) then you deserve all the attention and accolades you receive. We congratulate and support him for being the best voice EVER!

REFLECTIONS ON DIMASH

AVE MARIA, DIMASH

It’s time for Dimash to go backstage
And wait for the proper cue
To enter the stage and begin to prepare
To sing and perform for you.

His anticipation is palpable
And his listeners are ready to hear
They await to see what he has prepared
This musical engineer.

They hold so still while he prepares
They know now what to expect
As he paces himself and finds the right second
To sing with his powerful breath.

The listeners are literally hypnotized
This can’t be…..shouldn’t be real
His voice is resonating throughout their bodies
The atmosphere is surreal.

“Sing Dimash! Our Prince Dimash!
Sing with all of your might
Release those Ah’s in your angelic ways
And soothe our hearts tonight.”

From the surprising start to the shocking end
You’ve chilled us from head to toe
You give us more than we deserve
In every phenomenal show.

His anticipation was palpable
And the listeners certainly heard
They came, they saw and He certainly conquered
But The Prince never sang a word.

 THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH

Just one view of this Showman’s “Stranger”
And you’re off in a distant land
You’re seeing things you’ve never seen before
And this Showman is taking your hand.

He’s leading you down unknown paths
That are portals of faint memories
Of loves that were lost and chances that were missed
Distant dreams and forgotten histories.

This is no ordinary Showman
We need no peanuts nor tents
We need no elephants with ornate dress
No Barnum & Bailey…presents…

Just hand the Showman a microphone
And a musician or two will do
And he’ll perform with all the love in his heart
As he shares his music with you.

The Showman has to have a stage
And his audience can be thousands or few
He craves the satisfaction of singing and performing
To every Listener in view.

So forget for now the Barnum & Baileys
Who entertained millions for ages
This Singular Greatest Showman on Earth
Is performing on global stages.

They fly from every continent and clime
To be in this Showman’s presence
They want to witness the range of his octaves
His power, his whispers, his essence.

Just hand the Showman a microphone
And a musician or two will do
And he’ll perform with all the love in his heart
As he shares his music with you.

STUFF WE DISCUSS
“The Story of Us”

By Me….while waiting for his time on the forum.

Sockless Dimash
Appendix Scar Peaks 😳
A month-old beard quite oft
Those perfect lips
The (ahem) gyrating hips
And certainly a new stylish coif
The ❤️ on his elbow
The size of his hands and feet
That gaze in his rich brown eyes
The Golden Throat that works its magic
His height of considerable size
His precious smiles that lift our hearts
His many gracious bows
His love for family, country and fans
The Who’s, the Where’s and the How’s
The octaves of course!
The registers, the tones
We can’t get enough of those
From the designer suits that fit just right
To his laid back casual clothes
The sunglasses he likes to sport
Does the man own a thousand pair?
Those hours of dedicated studio work
The gratitude he often shares.
The times we spend amazed at his voice
The friends we try to convert
The songs that linger in our heads all day
The tease of an open shirt
The dance moves he offers
Natural or the polished choreographed
The shy, introverted side we see
His engaging infectious laugh
The dombra, drums, piano
All the instruments he plays
His signature songs – SOS and Unforgettable Days
We christen him with Titles like
Alien, Angel, and A.I.
We think, we KNOW he exaggerates
When he says he’s a regular guy
Those notes we experience that send our hearts
to our satellite called “the moon”
The anticipation when we see him post
Another ambiguous “SOON”
The debuts of each individual song
Like The Story of One  Sky
Only convinces all his many dears
That he’s not a regular guy
His skill of composing music
The intense dedication to his art
His tenderness toward children
His concerns for the oppressed
of heart.
The intensity of a perfect performance
The emotions he wears on his sleeve
The faith he has in his Eternal God
His devotion to all he believes
His heartfelt attention to the elderly
His desire to see a healing world
His yearning for love and peace
And his Kazakh flag unfurled.
This list could go on and on
This stuff we like to discuss
But what is real for all of us dears?
There’s so much JOY in being US.

THE EXPERIENCERS 🎶🎼🎵

Here’s the thing. Most of us, if not all of us, really had no idea what really great music could mean to our lives. It is like we’ve been walking around, listening to music 🎧 of all kinds actually, but with blinders on. That means that we were not getting the whole picture…the whole experience of music and what its limits can be or that music could potentially be limitless. I just found a reference in a website that answers the question “How many melodies are there?” Well, I won’t go into all the details here but it was interesting to learn that the number of potential melodies within an octave are 25 if you’re using two notes …and get ready…a mere 10 note melody can produce about 75 billion potential melodies of 13 notes within the octave. Now I don’t know what all that means but I’m definitely impressed.

When we listen to and watch Dimash Qudaibergen at work on the stage, we are not just listening or just watching. We’ve done that many times with other singing entertainers.

We are EXPERIENCING Dimash Qudaibergen!!!

All of the elements that he adds to his singing and his entire performances go above and beyond anything else we have ever experienced. You and I had no idea before 2017 that someone out there was disciplined enough to work hard and work many hours a day to perfect his art and keep perfecting it. We had and we have no idea what he has sacrificed to study and improve in all his musicality. We also have no idea if he has ever attempted to sing some of those 75 billion possibilities of melodies that come from a single octave. But we could reasonably guess that he has probably accomplished many of those melodies.

Dimash is magical, mysterious, majestic in stature and voice, and definitely has the potential to help us all experience MUSIC now, and in the future, in ways that we could never imagine. I look forward to every experience and all of his successful attempts at those 75 billion potential melodies.

Thank you Mr. Qudaibergen 🙏

Dimash Qudaibergen is a 28-year-old world-renowned Kazakh singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known for his exceptionally wide vocal range and ability to sing in more than fifteen languages.

Pamela McGee Wilkinson, in her book A Dimash Qudaibergen Fable: The Sculptor’s Masterpiece, has created an enchanting narrative poem as she appreciates the singer’s hard work over the years, his humility, and generous deeds. Written essentially for Dimash’s fans, who he fondly refers to as his “Dears,” Pamela tosses readers into an imaginary world of supernatural happenings.

In this vibrant text, a talented sculptor experiences a clear vision of sculpting a special sculpture of a man one evening. He examines his most suitable molds and feels they are not good enough to make this special image in his mind. He, therefore, acquires special molds and begins his work. Upon finishing, he is awestruck by the majestic sculpture and sheer perfection which stands before him and is almost inclined to believe that something supernatural has just happened to his craft.

Nothing prepares him for the events which follow as his long-term devotion to sculpting the exquisite sculpture pays off. Like kindred souls, the Sculptor and the Masterpiece eventually reconnect most spectacularly. Buoyed with thoughtful characterization and beautiful watercolor artwork that systematically festoon the book, A Dimash Qudaibergen Fable: The Sculptor’s Masterpiece is a delight to read. Pamela begins by giving a captivating preface that opens readers into the world of the maestro of music. This serves as a springboard to the fable she creatively and passionately weaves.

With a cadre of rhythmic flow and the right amounts of revelatory dialogue, this imaginative fable shows a genuine flair for originality making the tale fun and alive for the reader’s heart. The author’s passion and enthusiasm for Dimash’s music and unpretentious narration serve as an integral part of the text’s allure and the driving force of its readability.

Among the many triumphs of this fan book, is the author’s deft publicity to carve out a supernatural story based on the singer’s life story. By poring over the nuance-filled pages, his childhood and some of his achievements are uniquely presented in this sumptuous book. Ultimately, A Dimash Qudaibergen Fable: The Sculptor’s Masterpiece by Pamela Wilkinson is a charming book that is worth reading. It is bound to challenge the mindsets of Dimash’s skeptics if any, and become a staple for his fans.

Flowing in our Hearts – River of Love

This was a tribute to Dimash’s musicianship and vocals and Renat Gaissin’s haunting composition by The Dimash Kudaibergen International Fan Club (DKIFC – currently over 50,000 fans/Dears) The Dears were challenged to write poetry, prose or dedicate artwork to the song. I accepted the challenge.

Dimash singing S.O.S

Yes…that’s Dimash in concert at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn New York USA on December 10, 2019. If the stage is the north part of the stadium, then I was sitting in the southeast section. I don’t think he saw me. My iPhone picked up the audio spectacularly.

Did my Uber rideshare become a Dear? What do you think?

About Poetry

Poetry is simply a device to tell a story. A narration. I have used this device since 1985 when I wrote a poem to thank my husband for a beautiful dinner ring as a Christmas gift. It was the first time as an adult that I consciously and even abruptly decided, “I think I’ll write a poem about that.” It was interesting how it flowed that night as if it had been waiting on me to just get out the pen and paper. Some people may call it simply…. inspiration. I’m one of those people.

I call myself a ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” poet. A fairly simple flow of words and thoughts but hopefully descriptive enough for the reader to see what I’m seeing just as I saw what Clement C. Moore wanted me to see in his Christmas poem to us long ago.

I have loved storytelling since I listened to my poetic paternal matriarch recite her poems to her flock of grandchildren. When my poetry started in 1985, the other forms of writing followed soon after and it became a creative outlet that surprised me. Life…well….is full of surprises!

THE FIVE SENSES OF SPRING

By Pamela McGee Wilkinson

Winter is saying goodbye to us.
He brought the snow and the biting chills.
But now we can enjoy the gifts of spring
Like the poppies on the rolling hills.

It’s a beautiful day out there.
My! Don’t the trees look so green?
The gladiolas are a sunset orange.
The brightest orange I’ve ever seen.

The smells of spring are everywhere.
You can almost taste them on your tongue.
The glory of the new birth all around
Is illuminated by the sun.

The songs of birds and bees and children.
The happy sounds of innocence and truth.
The chirping, the buzzing, the laughter
Are anthems of innocence and youth.

The softness of a pink rose petal
Just bursting with a velvety hue.
The grace of a butterfly wing
As it lights on the morning dew.

Winter is saying goodbye to us.
He brought the snow and the biting chills.
But now we can enjoy the gifts of spring
Like the poppies on the rolling hills.
